LA Times: Swearing by 'Bridesmaids' Success

Female filmmakers hope the R-rated comedy has proved to Hollywood that girls can be raunchy and funny — and make money at the box office.

June 23, 2011 by Nicole Sperling

Hollywood's a notoriously cutthroat place, but the all-girl ensemble film "Bridesmaids" has cast a mysterious, uniting spell over women in show biz who might otherwise see one another as rivals.

Hutch Parker, chairman of New Regency, which is behind "What's Your Number?," immediately sparked to the screenplay by Jen Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan (the script is based on the book "20 Times a Lady" by Karyn Bosnak). But he says it's one of only a handful over the last five years in this genre that have intrigued him.

Do you know how many sex partners you've had?   And if so, what do you think of your number?  Do you think you need more experience?  Or do you shudder when you think of the staggering amount of notches in your bedpost?  Hell . . . do you even care?

I was thinking of this topic when I recently revisited a novel written by my friend Karyn Bosnak. 20 Times a Lady (soon to be a motion picture titled "What's Your Number?" starring  Anna Faris) is about a woman whose 20th sexual encounter was a heinous entanglement with a former boss...

/Film: ‘What’s Your Number?’ Trailer

Anna Faris Gets Friendly with Captain America

April 26th, 2011 by Angie Han

Like her House Bunny co-star Emma Stone, Anna Faris is one of those actresses who has enough charm and verve to brighten up even the most lackluster material. And it’s mostly for that reason that I’m actually looking forward to What’s Your Number? The upcoming romcom features Faris as a woman who, upon realizing that she has slept with 20 men, revisits her former flames to see if "the one" might’ve been among them. Watch the trailer after the jump.

What’s Your Number? is being directed by Mark Mylod (Ali G Indahouse, The United States of Tara) from a 2008 Black List script by Gabrielle Allan and Jennifer Crittenden, which in turn was based on a novel by Karyn Bosnak. The film was originally slated for an April release, but has since been pushed back to September 30...
