Beverly's Chunky

May 26, 2010 at 12:37 PM I just took Beverly to the vet for her annual exam.
She gained a pound, which is a lot for a dog her size. (It's like a person gaining 25 pounds or so.)
You should've heard me talking to the vet, trying to make up excuses...
ME: She really needs a haircut, that's what it is.
VET: Her hair doesn't weigh a pound.
ME: She just got a new harness; it has a lot of hardware on it.
VET: Not a pound's worth.
ME: She hasn't pooped yet today; that must be it.
VET: Nice try.
Anyway, I think I found her pound:

She's on a diet now.

I have a 8-9 pound cat. She's still growing so I weight her a lot. Her weight actually fluctuates by a full pound. Isn't that bizarre? I always think it's poop too.
This just made my day. Thank you.
Gosh! I hate the annual shaming I get when I take my cat in for her checkup and she's gained weight since the previous year. We're doing our best, but what can I say - the Science Diet goes straight to her cute lil' belly.
Fluffy Belly Bev! Are you SURE it's not just her winter coat? That's what I'm calling my little belly...but (shh!) I think it's really from stopping at the pub for a beer after going to Costco every week. Will you kiss her on the nose and on that fluffy tummy from me, please?
That is one scrumptious bell-ay. Also, I NEVER get on the scale if I feel like I could poop beforehand...I always weigh in sans-poop.
It's going to take a cold, cold heart to say no to those pleading puppy dog eyes. Poor Beverly...diets suck.
Aw, she's just big-boned.
When I took Sophie to the Vet last year for her shots the Vet said she to lose 3 oz's, I said here let me take her collar off. But you are right 1 pound on a Yorkie is a lot. Good luck Beverly and tell Mom to get some Charlie Bear treats for you.
I think a little belly is a good thing. My Strider is a little chunky, but there is just more to cuddle with!
Aw, Bev and her belly--I just think she is so cute. Chubby & cute--but I know the drill with vets--they want our pets to be healthy & skinny.
Last time I took Tilly (my houserabbit) to the vet she had put on weight - oh the shame. I think the vet was a bit rude to call her chubby bunny however :-)
