Eating Habits

Mar 11, 2010 at 3:42 PM Sometimes Bev stares at her food for a good five minutes before digging in. I often wonder if she's psyching herself up to eat or perhaps suppressing her gag reflex because she's eaten the same thing every day, twice day for seven years. Like, my God, I can't believe it's this sh*t again.

I love that Bev has heart-shaped bowls. And they're pink!
I'm pretty sure that's what she's thinking. I thought the same thing when I was in the 6th grade going to my grandparents house to eat hot dogs.
Thank you so much for the afternoon giggle! Needed it!
My yorkie does the same thing. If it's not drizzled with something yummy, he looks at it, sniffs it, then looks at me like "What the hell is this, then?" Funny.
Tracy Hotchner, the cat chat lady, says dogs should have a varied diet so they don't get bored. Don't be cruel to Bev, change it up.
I just have to say that this cracked me up.
I've been hunting for cute stylish bowls for my cats -- I need to know where you got these heart-shaped ones! LOVE them!
Too funny....I agree you should mix things up a bit. See if she changes her response... Thanks for the laugh!
I know I would. My Wilbur eats a raw diet, his a bulldog and is allergic to rice and potatoes which is in basically all dog food. So twice a day he gets, a cup of some kind of raw meat, one veggie and one fruit. This morning he had ground turkey, broccoli and an apple, all cut up and mixed together. We switch it up to different veggies and fruits. Yes, I am aware that he eats better then most people and his diet is healthier then mine...
"My Wilbur"
That made me smile. My my, how we love our pets. :)
where in the world did you get those bowls?! SO CUTE!
If you really want to have fun, when she's staring at the bowls, get down on your hands and knees, nudge her out of the way, Then, put your face in her bowl and pretend to eat it. (remember to swallow) Then grudgingly let her have it. It's really fun and I bet she'll gobble it down. (I do this with my old puppy who has to take medicine in his food - it is the ONLY way I can get him to eat it!) But Bev will get a great kick out of it!!
You actually want to change their protein every 3-6 months to prevent the development of allergies. There are some good foods like Nature's Variety Prairie and Fromm that are all formulated the same so you can switch proteins without the pain of transitioning everytime.
