The Liquor Store Guy
I went to the liquor store tonight to buy a bottle of wine. While I was paying, the guy behind the counter was like, "Long time no see. Were you on vacation or did you stop drinking?"
Okay... seriously, liquor store guy? Do I really come in here that often? I mean, it's nice to be recognized as a valuable customer, but it shouldn't be weird when you don't see me for a couple days.
Now I'm worried I'm an alchy.
Or worse, I'm worried people might think I'm an alchy.
I mean, it's just like the lady who owns the neighborhood bakery. I know that you know me, but when we pass each other on the street, you don't need to acknowledge my presence. I'd prefer that our relationship be kept private.

Don't worry. The owner of the wine shop I frequent the most knows me too (I used to bring Awesome-O in with me, as it's a dog-friendly place, and I just brought Nancy Drew in for the first time last week). He knows me well enough to once ask me "What are you doing over HERE?" when he found me in the hard liquor section (a friend was coming to visit, and she's a whiskey drinker... I, of course, no NOTHING about Whiskey).
I wouldn't fret. I think it just means you've got a nice community there.
And I also think I need to go back to One Girl Cookies soon...
You only have to worry if you start going to different stores so they won't know you're drinking so much wine! ;) It sounds like they just have great customer service!
The first time I visited my dad after he moved to Texas we took a ride to the liquor store. The owner came around the counter and hugged him........... 700.00 Later we left the store and the owner said see you next week.. True story!! My now husband was floored.
