Today's Ah-Ha Moment

Today's "ah-ha moment" came while talking to my dog.

THE SCENE: Me, eating a cookie; Beverly, begging.

BEVERLY (if she could talk): C'mon, mommy, gimme some of that.

ME (really talking): No, Beverly. In addition to breakfast and dinner, you already had cheese today, and chicken, and a little bit of a pickle.

BEVERLY: Pickle, schmickle—look how good I'm being. I'm well-behaved, not being obnoxious. Just gimme a tiny bite.

ME: Beverly, I said no. And it's only because I love you and don't want you to get fat. Perhaps if someone loved me as much as I love you, I wouldn't overeat either.

*sigh*

I think Beverly & Scruffy must be talking to each other lately somehow because Scruffy is now at the point where he barks at us when he wants what we're eating. He doesn't just LOOK at us with those eyes anymore- he will huff and puff until he gets his way.

My Dad had two Maltese (who both have sadly passed away), and he thought one was underweight and one was overweight... took them to the vet and it turned out the one he thought was underweight was overweight, and the one he thought was overweight was obese! I guess when you are a small dog, a little big of extra weight is a big deal!

But how can you resist Beverly's puppy dog eyes??
