Meet Kiki
May 7, 2008 at 4:24 PM My friends Patty and Ted adopted a dog from Animal Haven in Soho last week named Kiki. Kiki is a Bichon and she's four years old. I met her a couple of days ago and completely fell in love. Isn't she so cute?

The only thing Patty knows about Kiki is that she was owner-surrendered, meaning her owner turned her in. There's nothing wrong with her, though—I mean, she's sweet, loving, well-behaved, and potty trained—so I'm guessing her owner must have died. I mean, I can't figure out why else someone would give her up. Besides, she kind of looks like an old-lady dog, right?
Anyway, Kiki wasn't spayed when Patty and Ted got her, so she just had the procedure done, hence the cone on her head. I love that my friend Patty didn't take the sticker off of it:
I didn't have Beverly with me when I met Kiki, but there's no doubt in my mind that the two would become fast friends.

Oh she's heaven! Dont you just wonder what the story is behind her surrender? I have a dog and I cannot imagine anything making me give him up. You just wonder what happens to make someone surrender a dog. She's lovely and I'm glad she's been adpoted into an obviously very loving home.
I love Kiki, she is very cute and her collar is ummm...fashionable (yes thats the word I was searching for).
She is adorable!
She's gorgeous. What kind of rescue group adopts out animals unaltered, though? Extremely irresponsible.
They got her the day before Patty adopted her, and she was spayed before she was actually able to take her home. Animal Haven is a very popular, very responsible shelter.
Very cute! I wonder if perhaps she was given up because the previous "parent" had to move to a place where pets were not allowed? That is happening alot here in Chicago with the whole mortgage mess. Many good dogs are ending up in the shelters because people are losing their homes.
When I was a young-un we had a dog that looked like Kiki.
I wish Patty and Ted all the luck in the world with their new 'daughter.'
I had a bichon when I was a kid. She died at 18. Got her when I was 8 and she died when I was 26. Stupid dog but warm and friendly.
Connie... maybe, but if it were me I'd find a new place to live or give her to a friend to keep instead of a shelter.
Kiki is adorable!! Patty and Ted are very lucky, and Beverly needs to meet Kiki soon!
she is so cute!
Oh, I love her! We had a dog named Kiki that died.
She is adorable!!!
Karyn, oh Karyn! I came back here to comment again because:
A.) This is a dog post.
B.) I just found out that Cesar Millan has linked to my post thanking him for his help with Gaea, and he probably knows that http://ainawrites.blogspot.com/2008/05/wow.html" REL="nofollow">you and I want to do the nasty with him.
Just giving you a heads up if he should he come knockin'. LOL!

I fully agree with you Karyn. I would either find a place to live where I could take my precious four legged children or I would find a friend or family member to become the step-parents. I am just stating what the rep from Anti-Cruelty here in Chicago recently said on the weekly Adopt-A-Pet spot on the local news.
I love bichons! My dog was given up TWICE to the shelter before I adopted him. He is more than a wee bit neurotic but I can't imagine my life without him!
Awwww, Kiki is cute. Charlie would love her. Actually he'd probably terrorize her.
Hi everyone!
I am Patty, Kiki's new mommy - thank you for all your kind posts...Kiki is a wonderful addition to our family. She has a brother Groucho (our 4 year old Havanese) and they are getting along great. The cone came off yesterday and obviously Kiki was thrilled.
For the record I left the sticker on the cone because it added to her charm. ;-)
I am going to send Karyn new pics of Kiki cone-free!
xoxo,
Patty, Ted, Groucho and Kiki
