My Mom The Computer Whiz
Jul 31, 2007 at 2:54 PM Oh my Gosh, I can't handle it—I CAN'T HANDLE IT!
My mom finally got her new computer and, for some reason, the modem stopped working today. After spending a painful—and I mean painful—20 minutes on the phone with her trying to help figure out what happened, I told her to call the cable company because the thing seemed to have died completely. She ended up having to take it in and trade it in for a new one, and when she got home, she called me frantically and was like, "What's the difference between a urethra and UCB?"
I was like, "Pardon me?"
"The new modem came with a urethra and a UCB. Which one should I use to hook it up?"
"Um, do you mean an Ethernet and a USB cord?"
"Yeah, that's it..."
God bless her. I'm sure I'll be the same way some day.

When I told my mom about my blog she, for whatever reason, thought it was called a "woga" and kept talking about my "woga" to her friends and our family.
"Have you seen the vacation photos Beth posted on her woga?"
"Beth said her new email address can be found on her woga."
"Beth is apparently using her woga to let us know what she wants for Christmas so just go there."
Moms. :)
Old people and new technology do not mix.
OMG That just cracked me up! Last year, my parents went up to the Ozarks and passed through Eureka Springs... but originally my mom said, "we went to Urethra Springs and it was lovely!"
I was laughing so hard I almost had my own urethra springs ;) bad joke, but anyhow...your story reminded me of that... even if it has no relation to the technology conversation.
My mom JUST started using a debit card a year ago. Before, she wrote checks for everything. She's SLOWLY getting with the 21st century!
Thanks for the laugh. Your mom sounds adorable!
back to work....
Ha ha... my mom still doesn't have a debit card. If she needs cash, she gos to the bank and writes a check.
My mom calls the computer the box. "When I was in college she would oh there you are again and that box...." Needless to say she doesn't own a computer.
A woga sounds slang for a hoochie coochie
Your mom is so funny!
Just like her daughter!!
That just cracks me up. I have been trying for a year to get my parents to understand how to use an answering phone and why they need cell phones in case of an emergency. It's maddening but funny!
*snort*
I heard a once comedian say, "if you want to live a stress-free life, NEVER let your parents get a computer."
lol, sounds just like my mom...

I worked with a lady with a heavy french accent and she kept talking about getting a placenta for Christmas and was asking us all if we were getting a placenta or if we had one.
The entire work force was fluently bilingual in French and English, but nobody understood that she was actually trying to say Poinsettia!
We all had a laugh about this one for many Christmases!
