I've Never Been to Me

Ron Miller, the man who wrote "I've Never Been to Me" (performed by Charlene), died a few days ago. May he rest in peace.

I've always loved that song. I really identify with the part that goes, "I took the hand of a preacher man and we made love in the sun."

Ha ha, kidding.

I found a great website that has the lyrics and instrumental music so you can sing along. Warm up those vocal chords and then click the link below to begin:

I've Never Been to Me

Note: Really belt out that spoken part in the middle. Don't hold back.

Boy, that song brings back memories. Back in 1982, halfway through my freshman year of college, this song was a HUGE hit. The lyrics, melody and the monologue in the middle are hard to forget.

my dad had a casette tape of motown hits, and that song was on it. i never got the connection to motown, but that part of the song you refer to used to make me uncomfortable while we were listening to it on long car rides. i recall she refers to "making love" twice in the song...she also envies the woman who fights with her husband in the morning, only to make love with him again that night.

makes you wonder what the hell inspired that song.

Ah.... an uncomfortable car ride with Dad. That's awesome. I love that part b/c it's so weird. And now, to learn that a man wrote it? How strange is that?

I love when she goes, "That's truth, that's love!" She's so passionate.
