The Secret

So... has anyone bought this book, The Secret? It's all about mind over matter, like if you think something good will happen, then it will happen. If you worry about something bad happening, then it will happen. Your current thoughts are creating your current life. Your thoughts become things, and as you think them, they are sent out into the universe and attract like thoughts. The author was on Oprah a couple weeks ago, and today's Oprah is going to be an update. So watch!
I downloaded the audio version from iTunes and I'm going to put the ideas into practice. I've been in a funk lately, maybe this will help. I'm not really depressed, but I'm in a "place"... it's hard to explain. I've always been a really positive person, and I haven't been lately. But perhaps if I try to consciously change my thoughts, things will perk up. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks so much for the heads up on Oprah!!
I hope you get out of that 'place' soon! I totally know what you mean!
Oh please do keep us updated. I will be sure to catch Oprah as I am home sick today :-(
Stay positive! You're an inspiration.
You should bring back the Love, Sex, & Ex contest. Those stories always give me a good laugh.
I will! I think I gave away like seven books, so I have thirteen to go! And thank you. :)
We watched this video at a Mary Kay training and when I think positive it works. I just can't always remember to think positive.
Hey Karyn! I haven't seen or read it. We were supposed to view it at our RWA meeting but the damn VCR at the library didn't work, and when we believe it would work, it still didn't work so I don't know how valid the beliefs in the Secret really are!!! HAH.
But I do kind of live by that philosophy and am interested in it.
I know you will come out of your funk. Our minds do things like this. Just realize it and know that your life is all about change. Your feelings will change as well.
Love ya!
We're all in this together. I've heard that people who are really cheerful are also more prone to being down. I even spent February 2003 - all of it - in bed. One reason I started my blog was because I just got sick of the funk. Life is hard. It's such a crapshoot. Hang on for the change, it's coming.
I work in a bookstore, and quite frankly, this book is garbage. It's just hype, and can be boiled down to "ask, believe, receive". Just because Oprah blesses a book does not mean that it's worth anything. People, don't be sheep! Think for yourselves! It's just common sense in pretty expensive packaging.
Sorry to be negative, but I've seen too many super hyped up books tank in a few weeks after all the fuss is over. Besides, if you look at the book, it's totally not worth the money, as it can be read in about half an hour. Again, "ask, believe, receive", that's it. I've just saved you $24.
I actually watched the TV version (or more like an introductory program of this book) on TV in Melbourne here one night. It was on at the same time as those infomercials...I guess it's made with good intention, but I don't think it's as easy as they make it sound. And seriously, I find myself experience quite the opposite...whenever I think something bad is gonna happen (like failing an exam or getting bad grade on a subject), it always turns out the opposite.
Oh my gosh Karyn! I watched a video about this in my yoga class last semester. It had a bunch of testimonials about how these people put out these messages into the universe and then they received those vibes in return. I try to keep this whole idea in mind, but I tend to forget about it. Hope it works for you!
Read it, I'll learn how to use "The Secret" in some aspect of my life — yeal in relationships, and challenges in life. Hope I can unveal the hidden, untapped power that's within me, will see!
