I'm Going Green

I received a letter from ConEdison today asking me if I'd like to switch over to wind energy.

Wind energy is 100% pollution-free, fuel-free.

From the letter...

ConEdison Solutions is leading the way in promoting pollution-free electricity by offering WIND and GREEN Power - clean, 100% renewable power. Instead of drawing on traditional power sources, such as nuclear power and fossil fuel sources, GREEN Power is generated from regional wind and low-impact hydropower sources. GREEN Power is composed of 65% run-of-the-river hydro and 35% wind power. WIND Power is composed of electricity exclusively generated from 100% wind power.

The benefit of clean energy is that it produces none of the detrimental environmental effects associated with electricity production that results in air emissions.

Switching over will cost me about $10 a month extra, but that's a small price to pay for the environment. I'm doing it!

Check with your electricity provider to see if green energy is available in your area.

UPDATE: I'm all signed up!

I moved into my apartment complex partly because it has solar panels. I kid you not, my electric bill last month was less than sixteen dollars. I also unplug appliances whenever I can and we use CFL's. i'm a green machine!

We had someone come to the apartment to do an energy audit on our place. They gave us free energy saver light bulbs! It's weird when I'm home alone and I can hear my light bulbs humming. It's kinda spooky.

I use the energy-saving bulbs but I don't like them. they give off a bluish light rather than a warmer, yellowish one--you know what I mean? I wonder if they make them with a coating on them so they don't do that. I'm going to look into it.

And sense to dollars, bravo on unplugging things. I need to start doing that. It would probably help me break even on the $10.

Good for you Karyn! now just convince the rest of America to do the same and we're saved!

That's awesome. I want to do the same... I think it costs a little bit more here.

as for sense to dollars- I WISH my power bill was only $16/month. In the summer, our electric bill runs about $200-$250 a month. It's crazy. At least in the winter, it goes down a little bit.

Awesome move for you Karyn!

Yeah we have different types of energy bulbs for different rooms. The living room has the bluish look, the bedroom has a soft yellowish (normal light bulb)glow and for our bed side lamps we have a soft pinkish light. It's my fave! It's suppose to be easier on the eyes so you can read at night.
