I Want Red Hair

Nov 14, 2007 at 9:01 PM I kind of always have. Well, ever since Sydney was cool on Melrose Place. Remember her?

And then I once met Norma Kamali and she had the prettiest red hair and that just made me want it more.
And I gotta be honest... I really think Lilo rocks the red well:

And now I just saw these pictures of Isla Fisher and I want it even more:

But thine thing is, I don't think it would go well with my skin tone. Every time I tell my friend Mark about my red-haired fantasy he says, "You'll look ridiculous!" Maybe he's right. I need to try on a wig somewhere.

Karyn sweetie, it's just a matter of finding the right red. Great red hair is a woman's prerogative, like the right to change her mind.
Yes, I think you're right. I think I'm just worried about getting the red out if I don't like it. My hair is so porous from being highlighted and bleached that I think it might be difficult to do so. I'll have to think this through.
I think you would look AWESOME as a red head. Holly is right, you just have to find the right tone & shade of red. I am sure a really good colorist could guide you in the right direction. This is probably not a DIY project. I have been blonde, brunette and a red head--everything is possible! Strangely, red is the quickest color to fade, yet also the most difficult to remove. Loved Sidney on Melrose Place!
Karyn-
my coif has been been red for over 1 year now and def took me a long time to find the right shade. but i did and now i LOVEEEEEE it. everyone thinks it's real (mostly bc i'm super ass pasty) the only shitty part is that colour fading and spending a lot of money on products that pro-long the colour!
but i would say .. try it once! The reason I went red was because I don't really know nor see a lot of red-heads! PLUS if you don't like it, chances are it will fade within a month and then you can start all over again. Just study the different colours of red-
I've done auburn, strawberry but i'm now copper and it rocks.
G'LUCK!

I had red hair up until recently, I loved it. It is finding the right color and stylist that makes it look good, if you try to do it on your own or choose the wrong colour it could look bad and fake. The only problem I found with it is that it fades really fast and you have to keep it up because roots become noticeable. I ended up having to go back to my brunette roots because the upkeep and special products to prevent fading were costing too much.
Have you ever tried red hair before, or even strawberry blonde like the girl from CSI?
I think you would look great with Isla's shade of red, but definitely not Lohan's. Try it, I bet it will look great. Who knows, what if this is the shade that totally changes your life? Not that your life isn't fabulous but you might get that extra vavavoom. Luv ya, TT
I love red! Kate Walsh from Private Practice always makes me want to go red. I think you could possibly pull it off. I was blonde for many years and went dark brown and I love it! Change is good.
I've been every color in the book... even burgundy, and was a redhead for a lonnnng time. A couple of things to keep in mind... Red is the hardest color to keep from fading, I had to do MANY more touchups when I was a red head than when I was a blonde, because it fades. DON'T use the drugstore stuff, you'll have much better results from a professional. But you could try a strawberry blonde or strawberry blonde highlights and then work your way gradually to a full red.
Also, if you do decide to go red, I highly recommend the Pureology shampoos and conditioners. The stuff is about $22 a bottle, but it lasts a LONG time and will keep your color from fading.
Good Luck!
I know what you mean. That Isla shade of red is damn sexy.
I have red hair (natural)... and im pale... it looks ok. I swear, I find natural red heads would do anything to get a different color...
Red is the hardest color to maintain. The one thing you have going for you right now, is that we are heading into winter and you will not be doing the sun and clorine water thing.
I went read and then spent the weekend in Palm Springs. To call me an idiot would be an understatement. I should have just chucked the money out of my car window. Oh well, you live and learn!
I'm a pale red head (natural) as well. I think you would look great with the right shade.
You know, when I was younger, I would have given anything to be a blond.
I agree that if you find the right shade, red will look good on you (judging from your online photos)especially if you get your brows done. And it's great news that it fades fast, because that gives you a chance to try something new. Like a blond crew cut or something.
Also, because I read your book #1 and you're on strike, I know economizing within reason is important to you. Fortunately redheads look great in hats, bandeaus, and sitting despairingly with head in hands.
Also you could try a ponytail and color in only the part around your forehead with red sharpie until you're financially ready for your next touch up.
I can't guarantee that you won't look ridiculous, but if you do, your red hair will not be the cause.
I think you would look great with red hair. It's a great color. I had it for a while... like they have all said, though, it fades QUICK and your roots grow out and the maintenance is tough. But if you're willing to try it once, I say go for it.
You forgot Deborah Messing. She's my girlcrush and ONE HOT BITCH!!!
Yowzas! LOL!
