Love, Sex, & My Ex Contest Winner Delayed
Jul 17, 2006 at 2:41 PM
Coming later today! Along with Chicago book signing recap and more!
PS - In case you're wondering, I'm late with everything I do, going all the way back to making credit card payments. I've tried to fix this flaw of mine, but it's essentially what brought me success, so I go with it now and try to do the best I can. Ha ha...
Seriously though, I read somewhere that people who are late are subconsciously trying to tell others that they're the ones who are in control of the situation at hand. I want you to know that this is in NO WAY the case with me, that my lateness is due to a complete lack of organization mixed with a little bit of ADD and a little bit of OCD. (The ADD and OCD are undiagnosed, but I'm pretty sure I have both.) Hmmm... a similarity between myself and the main character of my new book, Delilah Darling. Don't be so sure what you're reading is fiction. Wink, wink.
PPS - One more thing... if you really like me, you'll accept my lateness flaw and flightiness and still continue to read my blog and books. After all, this kookiness helps when writing posts and books which is why I don't try to fix it.
PPPS - When my editor Alison reads the above post, she will probably forward it to everyone she works with at HarperCollins with a sarcastic (but loving) remark like, "Hmmm... Karyn's late with everything she does. You don't say..." (I turned in my book just a wee bit late.) Love you Ali Cali.

Now I feel bad for feeling all huffy-puffy about your lateness...I'm sorry...and yes, I will ALWAYS read your blog and books for as long as I live!!!
P.S. - My flaw is that I make promises that I don't always keep. Except for this one...(seriously!)
Kristen, don't feel bad. It's okay. I'm used to it. ;)
I pay everything from the comfort of my office chair!! They send me great reminders 7 days before my payment is do. I go to their site and push a button!! Woohoo, I am done.
Glad you are back and look forward to your update.
i have a bit of ADD myself. When i'm in the office i always think of new stuff to look up on the Internet. I'll be doing a report and be like, "hmm i wonder who got eliminated in the Amazing Race" "hmm i wonder when Season 3 of One Tree Hill is out?" "Hmmm i wonder if Karyn posted new stuff on her blog"....lol.
i still manage to turn in everything on time at work though ;) maybe i dont have ADD, i can just multitask real good!
Yes, I am dying to find out what I missed by not coming to Chicago to meet you, and now especially since I finished SAVE KARYN last night AND LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it, I am bummin' big time that I didn't come to see you.
I want to be yours and Naomi's and Tracy's best friend!
I have sooo many questions for you, like did Brad ever get in touch with you again after you got famous, if you still live with Scott, how many CC do you currently have, are you more frugal now that you've had the experience.
I just think it's such an incredible story.
And now I want to know the sequel of Save Karyn!
I should write an update about SK b/c everyone asks the same questions. Okay, add that to my list of posts coming later today! xx
YES! An updated SK book would be so awesome! Do It! Do It! Do It!
It's an ironic combo but I think I have ADD and OCD as well, self-diagnosed of course. Cami, I am the same way about random ideas coming into my head that I just have to look up on the internet right then. Speaking of which, I'm working right now....Would def luv a SK update too :)
I'm mad at all the bookstores in my area. I heard about your book and ran down to find it. Not at B&N or Borders. I went hoome bummed and with a book I am barely interested in reading. Boo hoo. Anyways, I ordered it through Amazon..should be here in a few more days.
I have the same problem...but I put it down to being fashionably late!! Karyn, we'll always read your book/blogs...only because the wait is worth it...I actually snorted when I read your plane trip secret...
And Cami & Mindy - I too, think of something random and need to look at it straight away... like I think 'oh...I wonder how much an apartment in Paris costs...' so I just start researching... I think thats more my concentration levels though!!!
My sister told me something and ever since then, I have never been late.
It was blunt but she said "Being late is basically a "F-You" to whoever you are late to.
I never wanted someone to think I was saying F-You so I am never late now.
I'm sure you aren't saying that.
My sister is just mean. :-)
It worked though. I was late to everything. Not anymore.
I just finished your new book and I absolutely could not put it down!! You are a wonderful writer and I will always always always read your blog and books! In fact, I am such a fan that I complained to my local barnes and noble manager because they were not carrying your book...I was so pissed at them! Needless to say, they had me a copy the next day!
Just finished "20 Times a Lady" and loved loved loved it! I laughed so hard that I snorted at least half a dozen times. Thank God I read the majority of the book while home so I could laugh freely. Thanks again for the great laughs!!
