N-N-N-Nora! Beautiful Nora! You're the Only G-G-G-Girl That I Adore!

I'm alive. I haven't been kidnapped by Lenny. I'm at my sister's house babysitting my eight-month-old niece, Nora. The idea of me babysitting is funny for one main reason: it's me babysitting. To say that I know nothing about babies is an understatement. Me watching my niece is kind of like me coaching a football team, or me trying to hold a conversation with someone like Alan Greenspan. None of them come naturally to me.

Like for instance, when my sister was pregnant and stocking up on goods, my friend told me that I had to get her this thing called the "instant bath." I imagined it to be like a car wash for babies: you put them in one end, turn a crank, and they pop out the other end all spic and span. I went to Babies 'R' Us looking for it, I scoured the internet - no one had it. I called my friend and was like, "This instant bath thing doesn't exist," and she was like, "You idiot - I said infant bath."

Anyway, to further my point, I can't tell when her diaper is wet so I just keep changing her. Also, I'm not really sure how to entertain her, so I keep making faces and dancing. She seems to like it, she keeps smiling at me, so I guess I'm doing something right. (It's either that or she's looking at me thinking, You're such a dufus.)

She just got up from her second nap and I just fed her lunch. She had sweet potatoes and corn. I gave it a little taste and have to admit - the stuff's not bad. It would make a good glaze for a chicken breast or something like that.

So anyway, this leads me to my question. Nora is going to grow up and call me "Aunt Karyn" or "Auntie Karyn," but I don't like the way either name sounds. They just don't flow off the tongue that smoothly. I'd much prefer it if my name were something snappy like "Aunt Tootie" or something. Any suggestions?

She could call you Aunt Kiki or call you Ryn or Rynie. My friend Renae's nieces call her Nae Nae.

Why d'you so insist that she calls you 'aunt'? My mum said to my cousin to call her by name, she cannot stand when someone's calling her 'aunt'. Maybe just 'Karyn'. That would be OK, wouldn't it?

Auntie Save Karyn doesn't roll off the tongue with any more grace. Aunt K is a little better. I'd vote for Karyn, Coolest Aunt inthe World.

My little girl is turning 8 months in a few days and also loves the silly dancing LOL I had an Aunt Kay, so I'd vote for Aunt K. Nora is adorable!

I am so glad you are ok. I can take the pictures off the water bottles. I only did three, but it's ok....I showed everyone!

I have a 9 month old nephew. Once he starts talking he will just call me Auntie Lee Lee. You can have her call you Auntie Care Care. That is fun!!

So glad you are alive....and I hope you went back there! Have fun with her. I haven't even met my nephew. He lives in Maui and I am afraid to fly. :0(

Well Karyn good to see that you are back and updating your site, I was beginning to think that you had forgotten to shut it down.
I've written to you a couple of times and now reading some of the comments from your readers its sad to know that there are alot of people out there seeking help. It would have been wonderful if you became these people's miracle angel, but we can't all help the world. Perhaps Oprah can but we as an individual can't. I think IF I had what Oprah has I would at least try and make a difference, dent a few people's debts and make them happy.

Its good to hear from you, you fun I must admit. I have started my own website here in South Africa and am hoping that I can make a little difference in someone's life.

My name is Ellen, and my 7 year old nephew calls me "Aunt Smelley"—don't ask... it just evolved.

Okay, my sister is also totally against the "aunt" thing and so she insisted my daughter call her "Sunny"...it's really quite cute because it fits her to a tee! Her name is Suzanne and she's very upbeat and such a happy bubbly person!! I think it would be awesome to have something like that rather than the same ole "aunt" whoever......just a thought!

Ria 4,thank you for your understanding and belive that i tell the true. That is enough for me.

Love you ,Talija

I just call my aunties and uncles by their names :)

Otherwise, I like auntie K
(although it does sound a bit like antique...) xx

i have no name for ya but warnings. the sweet potatoes, apple sauce and carrots seem to be the only good baby food.. never eat the food in the meat group!!! my nephew agrees cause he ate only the orange food rich in beta carotene.. for a while he looked like he had been fake baking:)

My kids call my friend Karen, Aunt Kay Kay...it's catchy :) My niece calls me Aunt Moochie. I told her to give me a smoochie when she was little so then it turned into Aunt Moochie. Before that it was Auntie Jen which to me sounded like something found in your blood...I dunno...

Nora is a doll! I love the bell bottoms!

She is so cute! My sister's girls call me Titi (tee-tee) because when the older one (now six) was little, my sister would say "Auntie is here!" and so Titi naturally evolved. Perhaps Nora will come up with her own name for you! :)

Auntie Kay Kay. That's my vote.
